Proper disposal of outdated, broken or unused electronics is a critical, but often overlooked component of most facility managers’ jobs. Data security for physical IT infrastructure is crucial to protecting your business’s integrity. Improperly discarded computers, phones, tablets, and other data-bearing devices are a principal source of information for identity thieves, while asset tags found on monitors, docking stations, and other electronic peripherals that have been thrown in a landfill can negatively affect your business’s reputation & ESG goals. This presentation will be an in-depth dive into topics such as the process, benefits, risks, and certifications of the Electronics Recycling & IT Asset Disposition industries.

Andrew is a Georgia Tech alumnus (class of 2010) that has worked as Chief Operating Officer at eWaste ePlanet LLC for more than 7 years. He has overseen the creation of state-of-the-art data-destruction, electronics recycling, and IT Asset disposition methods to efficiently process a wide variety of electronics – “anything that plugs in or runs on a battery.” Leading the way in safe & easy eWaste recycling, Andrew has implemented industry gold-standard certifications such as R2v3, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001. This is all to work towards his goals of protecting clients’ sensitive data & keeping potentially hazardous electronics out of Georgia’s landfills to provide a greener, cleaner future for his wife & four children who reside in metro Atlanta.

Rob is an alumnus from the University of Georgia (class of 2016) who studied Environmental Economics and Management during his time there. As a certified “Sustainability Ambassador” for the city of Atlanta, Rob has been an outspoken leader for implementing circularity, environmental protection, and habitat restoration in business processes. Rob’s background in hazardous waste management has served him well in his current position as Vice President of Business Development at eWaste ePlanet.
