ACCOMPLISHMENTS BY COMMITTEE

Professional Development – Hollie Dupes, Chairman

  • Held CFM Review Course in Atlanta on July 11-12, 2002 with 23 people in attendance.
  • Hosted CFM Study group monthly meetings.
  • Hosted CFM table at luncheons for discussion and promotion of the CFM designation.
  • Developed World Workplace slide show to promote attendance.
  • Sponsored educational tours: Federal Reserve Bank, West Wayne, Carter’s Headquarters, Total Systems Services, and BellSouth (coming up).
  • Developed Educational Opportunity Guidelines for use in determining distribution of email and newsletter seminars.

Community Services – Mitch Rabil, Chairman

  • Submission included in Chapter Best Practices for 2002 Leadership Workshops.
  • Assisted with design and construction review for the YWCA Administrative office move to Decatur. Coordinated finishes, furniture acquisition and placement for this office.
  • Participated in the YWCA Strategic Long Range Planning Session.
  • Coordinating with the YWCA for their new Agnes Scott Daycare Facility. They are performing design review and construction costs.
  • They have produced construction drawings and construction costs for funding the renovation of the Phyllis Wheatley YWCA.
  • Atlanta Chapter of IFMA Volunteer Day.
  • Collection of Books and Toys for Atlanta Chapter Holiday Celebration.

Sustaining Patrons – Harry Ludwig, Chairman

  • Submission included in Chapter Best Practices for 2002 Leadership Workshops.
  • Assured the Sustaining Patron program is completely subscribed.
  • Represented Sustaining Patrons on the Board to assure other Chapter programs and initiatives do not adversely affect our Patrons or the program.
  • Obtained and provided content from all Patron companies for the Chapter Directory.
  • Assisted the Web chair with developing links to Sustaining Patron from the IFMA Atlanta web site.

Newsletter – Fran Rissland, Chairman

  • Submission by former Chairman, Mark Erba included in Chapter Best Practices for 2002 Leadership Workshops.
  • The newsletter is now available on line at www.ifmaatlanta.org.
  • Re-instituted a monthly publication with additional informative content.

Programs – Beth Chaplin, Chairman

  • Submission included in Chapter Best Practices for 2002 Leadership Workshops.
  • The committee worked to put together a great calendar for the year covering all of the core competencies as outlined by International. The attendance at meetings has continued to increase this year.
  • The committee has worked with the membership committee to implement semi-annual breakfast programs in the North Fulton area. The membership committee supplied a list of potential members that were invited to these events. By offering programs at a different time and in a different location, IFMA Atlanta has reached out and provided valuable services to a broader scope of our membership.

Fund Raising – Joyce Roper, Chairman

  • Submission for Chapter Awards included in Chapter Best Practices for 2002 Leadership Workshops.
  • Formed an advisory committee, which will soon develop written procedures for this board position.
  • Separate accounting being maintained for charitable contributions.
  • Approved charitable contributions this year included IFMA Foundation to match the Polsky Grant, $4000 given in memory of Lee Forest. Georgia Tech contribution will be made during the Annual Awards Luncheon this year.

Public Relations – Joe Holcombe, Chairman

  • Submission included in Chapter Best Practices for 2002 Leadership Workshops.
  • Developed a PR Committee Mission Statement.
  • Developed an Annual set of Initiatives which include:
  • Surveying our membership to determine what media outlets they subscribe to/go to for FM information.
  • Developing a Media Directory for contacting media with PR opportunities.
  • Developing an IFMA Subject Matter Expert directory of interested FM professionals who would be available for interviews/information if needed.
  • Started publishing PR Releases for IFMA events.
  • Worked to publicize the IFMA Showcased Trade Show / YWCA 100th Anniversary Celebration.

Membership – Steve Christopher, Chairman

  • The Membership committee results were accomplished with the assistance of the Mentoring and Golf Sub-Committees chaired by Andrea Bruschi and Susan Wise respectively.
  • Doubled the new member target goal by October 1st.
  • New members received a letter from the membership chair providing an agenda of this year’s events and offering to answer all questions regarding membership in IFMA. The mentoring Sub-committee assigned a mentor to new members and met them at the luncheons to help with their integration into the IFMA family.
  • Executed this year’s Braves outing.
  • Executed new member orientations.
  • Supported semi-annual breakfast programs and IFMA Showcased.
  • Executed the Fall Classic as our most successful charitable fund raiser to date.

Associates – Bill Atchison, Chairman

  • Submission included in Chapter Best Practices for 2002 Leadership Workshops.
  • Education Programs-Forum to educate Associate members regarding specific Professional member organizations; how they go to market, how they operate, how best to network and develop a relationship. Current program- “Profiling A Professional”.
  • IFMA-Atlanta Showcased-Celebration of Community Services Committee and 100 year anniversary of YWCA-Atlanta. Associate vendor fair as part of celebration. Presented “Y” with $10,000.
  • Support of 20 year anniversary of IFMA-Atlanta.

Career Services – Sarah Bailey, Chairman

  • Established Committee with active members.
  • Divided committee into subcommittee structure in order to accomplish more. Subcommittees include:

6. Web and Newsletter Communication

7. Record Keeping.

 

  • Held a very successful job seekers “lunch & learn”. Kathy Roper was the speaker.
  • Held a follow up interviewing skills lab: Kathy Roper was the facilitator.

Web – Mark Ormand, Chairman

  • Re-designed www.ifmaatlanta.org to current format with additional information and a more user friendly design
  • Worked with Sustaining Patron chair to incorporate Sustaining Patron web site links from IFMA Atlanta site.
  • Executed monthly updates with procedures for maintaining the web site with current information.
  • Worked in conjunction with Newsletter chair to make monthly newsletter available on line.

Secretary – Doris Duncan

  • Successfully executed chapter re-certification.
  • Exceeded chapter standards for communications with Board members.
  • Attended Regional Leadership Conference to gain and share in the development of the IFMA Chapter Best Practice manual.
  • Submitted year end tax requirements
  • Represented IFMA Atlanta as a Delegate at World Workplace in Toronto during the annual meeting.

  • Represented IFMA Atlanta by leading an educational session at World Workplace Europe in Paris.
  • Represented IFMA Atlanta as a Delegate at World Workplace in Toronto during the annual meeting.
  • Chaired the Selection Committee for the 2003 Board of Directors.
  • Served on Audit Committee for fiscal 2002.
  • Organized the Annual Awards Banquet including:
  • Creating the Program.
  • Selecting and Ordering the Awards.
  • Arranging for recognition certificates for all Board Members.
  • Hosting the event.

Special Projects

  • Ann Steele, Sub-committee chairman for Councils kept us informed on council opportunities within IFMA and has provided for us the wonderful musical entertainment we have become accustomed to at chapter functions.
  • Joanne Cole coordinated our chapter’s involvement during World Workplace in Toronto.
  • Martha Osborne planned and executed our 20th Anniversary celebration in December, at Villa Christina, and updated, through 2002, the chapter history that she originally compiled in 1997.
