Youth Requirements: All volunteers under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult. For groups, we require 1 adult chaperone for every 4 children (8-11 years) and 1 adult chaperone for every 8 youth (12-17).

Dress Code: Closed-toe and closed-heel shoes are required, with sneakers or work boots recommended. Flip flops, Crocs, sandals or heeled shoes are not allowed. Please wear comfortable clothing which you do not mind getting a bit rumpled. Some volunteers will be sorting refrigerated product. Please wear long pants and bring a sweatshirt or light jacket with you. In the event you are working elsewhere, we do have lockers onsite to place your outerwear.

About the Hunger Action Center:  The Hunger Action Center provides a great hands-on experience in a diverse and social atmosphere. Groups and individual volunteers come together to inspect, sort, and pack quality grocery donations to prepare for distribution to nearly 700 partner agencies across Georgia.

Food Donations: With 1 in every 9 Georgians at risk of hunger, the number of people requesting emergency food assistance continues to grow. If every volunteer visiting our Hunger Action Center brings just two cans of food, we would be able to provide approximately 2,750 additional meals each month!

*Please consider bringing as many nonperishable items as you can! You’re already making a tremendous difference by volunteering. Think how much that can be magnified by grabbing a couple of food items to bring with you when you come! We’re always in need of natural peanut butter, canned chicken, and canned fruits & vegetables. Click here for our full list of most needed food items.
