SUMMARY:A Roadmap for High Performance in Existing Buildings - Breakfast &
 Program
DESCRIPTION:Program Synopsis:\n\nWhile much attention has been given to bui
lding more sustainable new construction projects on the nation’s campuse
s\, less attention has been given to existing facilities despite the fact
that 72% of the United States’ building stock is over 20 years old and o
ver half of the facilities that will be in use in the year 2050 have alrea
dy been built. The sad truth is that politicians and other decision-makers
don’t show up for ribbon cuttings for HVAC systems controls adjustments
\, lighting retrofits\, or plumbing fixture upgrades\, despite the fact th
ese existing building optimization efforts can have the greatest impact in
cutting an institution’s energy and water consumption. This presentatio
n will put forward a step-by-step methodology for analyzing and upgrading
existing physical building assets and operations and maintenance policies
with a view toward making more efficient buildings that consume fewer reso
urces and cost less to operate.\n\nThis Program is approved by IACET for 0
.1 CEUs\n\nSpeakers:\n\nPete Choquette is the Design and Consulting Depart
